Weekly Update/ Mario Kart Tour Impression:  9/26/2019

9/26/2019

An overall quiet week for gaming up until yesterday.  I've been playing some small indie games and still playing Marvel Strike Force on mobile.  I also got some time to play Dissida on mobile.  I also am working on two new sections for the site.  One is going up next month and the other will go up sometime in November.  But let's talk about Mario Kart Tour, a mobile game that came out yesterday.

I've put a few hours into Mario Kart Tour and so far I am enjoying it.  This is a watered down version of Mario Kart for mobile devices.  The game looks and sounds great and I got used to the controls very quickly.  The fact that they have no stamina system means you can race as many times as you want and I like that part of the game.  I've seen a lot of comments and articles complaining about certain aspects of the game and I'm going to throw my two cents in down below:

-I have no problem with the gold subscription.  This is no different than many other mobile games I play.  The only difference is that I would have priced it at either $1.99 or $2.99 a month.

-I have no problem playing the game in vertical mode, but I understand some people like to play games that way, particularly racing games.

-The pull elements in this game are not bad.  I've seen a lot worse in other games and if you really want a character, kart or glider from a banner after doing enough pulls you will get what you are looking for.  Problem is, it might cost you upwards of 450 rubies to do it.

-The cap on coins per day should either be higher or removed for subscribers.

-The cap on experience per day for items and characters should be higher or removed for subscribers.

-I could care less about multiplayer and like the way the game does races, but glad multiplayer is coming later for the people who want it.

Anyone who reads these blog posts or knows me understands that a spend a fair amount of time playing mobile games.  I play more mobile games than I do console games now.  So when I saw this game was coming out I was excited since even though I own a Switch and have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe I could not tell you the last time I played it.  I started playing this game yesterday and saw nothing that shocked me or turned me away from this game.  This feels like every other mobile game I have played except it is based on Mario Kart.

The game has been out for a day so time will tell what changes/improvements are going to be coming over the next few weeks and months.  I'm sure some things and aspects are going to be tweaked based on player feedback.  I'm probably going to review this game, but I am going to wait until October to do it since I want to see if any changes get put into the game first.

Everyone have a good week.
