Well this was a surprise. I found this game on sale in the steam store, looked at the screen shots and said to myself, "Why not? The game looks basic, plays basic and has a fairly basic upgrade and leveling system. Graphics are not bad but basic and i did find a audio issue when manaully reloading my weapons. However if you can look past the simplicity of the game you will see a game that is fun for short bursts of playtime.
There is no story here and the gameplay is pretty basic. All you do is stand in one spot and shoot the enemies that come towards you, collecting any gems or items that drop from them. Occasionally non enemies run towards you and killing them affects your score. The enemies come in progressively harder waves and once you get to wave 10 the stage ends. Enemies vary from zombies and skeletons to armored skeletons and bigger zombies. On set waves you fight a big armored skeleton that shoots fireballs at you.
Killing enemies gets you experience and occasionally gem which is the games currency. As your level goes up you unlock more weapons to use and at level 15 you unlock another stage to play. You use the currecny you collect to upgrade the damage, clip size and reload speed of the 5 weapons you unlock while leveling up. Besides your starting weapon which has unlimited ammo, you will need to buy ammo for the other weapons. While it is nice to have options, I found that by fully upgrading your starting handgun and the machine gun I had more than enough firepower to beat the game's two stages.
Death happens when you let enemies get too close to you and they knock your health down to zero. When you die you keep all the currecny that you earned along with any experince that was earned. Early on you will probably die a few times due to not having fully upgraded weapons but once you get the handsgun upgraded the game gets alot easier. That would be my one complant about the game, once you get a few upgrades the game becomes too easy. Also, being that there is only two stages at the time of this review, it also gets very repetitive.
Simplicity is what I found appealing about the game. It is easy to pick up, play for a few minutes and move on. I put 90 minutes into the game and was able to unlock all weapons and upgrade half of them to max. If you are looking a in depth shooter that will challenge you look elsewhere. If your bored this is something to look into to kill some time.
