Polygon Attack is a simple top down space shooter.  The story is that there are aliens attacking Earth and you are the only person willing to stop them.  Which makes no sense that only you would fight off an alien invasion, but the story means nothing here.  What this game lacks in its story it makes up with its gameplay and visual style. Unfortunately, that only lasts so long with this game.

Each of the game’s fifteen levels mostly play the same.  You pretty much shoot everything on the screen. Occasionally you will have a boss fight, but most stages just throw more and more enemies at you.  You start with a bullet weapon, but later on can purchase a plasma weapon, a laser cannon and rockets. While all the weapons are useful, I found the laser weapon to be the most useful since it fires a constant beam in front of you that can also destroy most bullets that come at you.  Defeated enemies add to your score and also drop items that give you points and replenish your health.

Between stages you use your score to upgrade your ship.  This includes health, shield time, attack speed and upgrades for your four weapons.  I found that besides leveling up your shield and health to max, focusing on one weapon you like and taking that to max level is your best approach.  The choices you make here are noticeable and do have an impact on how the game plays.

The game uses simple polygon graphics for the player and enemies.  This, along with the color scheme give the game a distinct look. I also found the explosions to be well done.  The audio is passable, nothing outstanding or bad about it.

The only real con is that once you beat the game there is no reason to go back to it.  Beating this game does not take long and can be done in one sitting. Still, the game looks good, plays good and I enjoyed my time with the game.  Overall, not a bad way to spend an hour or two of gaming.
