Spirits Abyss is a game being developed by Anthony Case and published by Caiysware. This a rogue-like game that puts you in the role of a child thrown into an abyss. You can pick from a character that has a ranged attack and one that uses a melee weapon. Your goal is to keep going down further and further into this abyss collecting money and defeating powerful enemies. The game uses pixel graphics which makes the game look great in my opinion.
The main game mode has you deeper through this abyss that is randomized each time you play.. As you go deeper you fight creatures like bats, zombies, skeletal heads and bosses. On your way down you use bombs to help make new paths and unlock secret treasures. You also come across chests and even vendors that sell items that aid you in your journey. When you get to the end of a stage you are given a choice between three items to help you along. This goes on until you die and once you die your high score gets uploaded and you start over again from the top.
Besides the main game mode, there is a card battle game which I found to be just as fun as the main game. You use the cards you collect in the main game mode and collect the others from playing the card mode. While it is not incredibly advanced, it's something else to do in the game. There are also seeded runs where you compete on the leaderboard against other players going against the same runs. There is also a cabin mode that I did not unlock as of yet.
For an Early Access game this one looks pretty complete already. The game handles well and definitely gives you that “one more try” vibe. I enjoyed all the game modes I was able to unlock and I love fighting on the scoreboards. If I had any complaints about this game it would just be that I was not a fan of the alchemist character. This is one I will be coming back to often.
