Dragon Chase is a game that keeps things interesting but simple. This is a game with only one goal: survive as long as possible. You do this by running, jumping over obstacles and killing enemies in front of you while being chased by a dragon that never stops and destroys everything in its path. This a one hit game, any obstacle, enemy, or dragon that hits you will kill you and you have to restart. And dying happens fairly often in this game. Besides the start of the game which is always the same, the game randomizes the enemies, obstacles and dragon attacks so that each time you play the game feels slightly different.
Overall the game handles pretty well. The platforming is not hard and the combat is very basic. There were a few instances where I would get hung up on the platforms while jumping, but nothing that cost me a run. I also noticed some slowdown at the very start of the level, but again this did not affect me in any of my runs.
The game uses basic 3D graphics that, while they look decent, they are nothing outstanding. The environment is always the same so it does get a little repetitive to look at after a while. The game does do a good job with lighting effects. The audio is about the same with the sound effects being decent but nothing great. I will say I liked the background music,
The game scores you for how long you stay alive and then uploads that to a global leaderboard. During my playthroughs I was able to get up to position eighteen, which I was happy about. However, if you have no ambition to get to the top of a leaderboard, this game might get boring very quickly for you. Also, while each playthrough is randomized, after a while you start to see the same obstacle segments over and over again which also makes the game feel repetitive.
I enjoyed Dragon Chase. The game has one goal and I think it does it well. This is a game I can see myself coming back to again and again to see how high I can get on the leaderboards. This is also a game that has limited replay value depending on what you are looking for in a game.
