Christmas Race 2 is one of the simplest games I have ever played. All you do is race down what appears to be an endless hill collecting presents and dodging everything else. You use one button to steer and if you hit anything besides a present you lose. Most of the time I only lasted about thirty seconds or less. But because of this simplicity the game is so accessible and easy to play.
Presents are used to buy unlockables. There are over fifty different items to unlock between characters and sleds. As far as sleds go besides appearances I did not notice any significant difference if any between which one you used. The same thing applies to the characters except for five of them. Unlocking these characters changes the whole map’s appearance from a winter theme to whatever theme the characters are from. This includes a Mario-themed and Pac-Man themed world.
Another thing about this game is that they give away free presents and they do this every hour after you collect the first one. The amount varies from twenty five to forty five. While you could technically unlock everything in the game by logging in every hour to get presents, this would take a very long time. This is very much like a mobile game tactic which is not surprising since there is a mobile version of this game. Still, it is a incentive to login as often as possible.
The game has decent Lego looking graphics for its scenery and objects. This goes for all the different environments that the game has depending on which character you are using. The music, while repetitive, is very well done. Each of the different environments has its own tune and I never got tired of hearing them.
Christmas Race 2 is not a in-depth game. It is a simple game that can be picked up and played for two or twenty minutes. The unlockables are a nice touch and unlocking everything will take some time. However, if repetitive gaming is not something you are OK with, this game might get boring very quick.
