64.0 is another example of a small, minimalist game that gets right to the point with no filler. The object of the game is that you are a stationary block in the center of the screen and you have to shoot other blocks that are the same color as the background. The blocks come from four directions, blocks that are a different color than you can hit you, background color changes at random and if you get hit by the same color block as the background you loose. The game has ten different modes that are all some variant of the main gameplay. There is also a custom level area where you can create your own levels or play ones others have created.
The goal is to last for 64 seconds. This may sound easy, but this game gets challenging extremely quickly. Blocks come at you quickly and even if you get into a rhythm, the background color might change and a second later you make a mistake and have to start over. This is not a game for someone who wants an easy playthrough. This game, while simple in concept, takes concentration, alertness and reflexes to win.
While the game uses simple graphics, I really enjoyed the soundtrack in all the modes. This is a game I will come back to when I’m bored to see if I can be my record of staying alive for more than eleven seconds. I’ll also check in from time to time to see the new custom levels the community creates for it But this is a game I will throw on for maybe for 15-30 minutes and move on to something else. And there is nothing wrong with that.
